Members and role names.
See everyone in the workspace, change their roles, deactivate or remove them, and rename roles to match how your studio works.
Settings → Members shows everyone in the workspace. Owners and admins can change roles, deactivate and remove people, and rename roles. Other members see the list without the controls.
The member list
The Members card groups people into bands, with a count on each:
| Group | Who’s in it |
|---|---|
| Management seats | Everyone holding a role that uses a seat: owner, admin, team manager, dedicated expert, finance or sales. A pill shows how many seats are in use. |
| Members | Internal members without a seat role, such as production crew. |
| Clients | Client users, each with their client organization. |
| Deactivated | People who no longer have access. |
Each row shows the person’s name, their availability, when they joined, and a chip for every role they hold.
Change someone’s roles
- Find the person and choose Roles.
- In Edit roles, tick every role they should hold. A member can hold several.
- Choose Save roles.
- Only owners can grant or remove the Owner and Admin roles. For admins, those boxes are marked “owners only”.
- A workspace always keeps one owner. If you try to remove Owner from the only owner, UpRush asks you to grant Owner to someone else first.
- Client users don’t have a Roles button. Client can’t be mixed with internal roles.
- Adding a seat role to someone who didn’t have one adds a management seat. See Plan and usage.
Deactivate or remove
| Action | What happens |
|---|---|
| Deactivate | They immediately lose access. Their history, tasks and comments stay intact, and they can be re-invited later. They move to the Deactivated group. |
| Remove (bin icon) | Permanently deletes their membership. If they are linked to tasks or history, the removal is blocked, and you should deactivate them instead. |
Role names
Every studio names its positions differently. The Role names card lets you rename five roles everywhere in the workspace: Team Manager, Dedicated Expert, Production Team, Finance and Sales. Owner, Admin and Client keep their names.
- Go to Settings → Members and scroll to Role names.
- Type a new name next to any role, up to 24 characters. For example, rename Dedicated Expert to “Producer” or Production Team to “Crew”.
- Leave a field empty to keep the default.
- Choose Save names.
The new names appear across the app: member chips, the invite dialog, project fields, the setup wizard, scoping switches and invitation pages. Reset to defaults clears every custom name at once.
Invitations
The Invitations card at the top of the page holds Invite by email and Invite link, and lists every invitation with its status. Dedicated Experts see it too, so they can invite client users. Everything about it is covered in Invite your team.
