Add a client.
Create a client organization to give a client their own board, task queue and private portal, then invite the people who work there.
In UpRush, a client is an organization: one company you make work for. Each client gets its own Kanban board, its own queue of active tasks and its own private portal. Client users belong to exactly one client organization and only ever see that organization’s work.
Create a client
- Go to Settings → Clients and choose New client. You can also press ⌘K and pick New client.
- Type the client’s Name.
- Set the Active task limit: how many tasks the client can have in production at once. New clients start at 1.
- Pick a Dashboard mode: Subscription or Projects.
- Optionally pick who looks after the client in the Dedicated Expert field (it uses your workspace’s name for that role).
- Optionally upload the client’s Logo.
- Choose Create client.
Active task limit
The limit controls how many of a client’s tasks can be in production at the same time. When the limit is reached, new requests wait in the queue until something finishes. It keeps retainer clients from flooding the team, and gives the client a clear choice about what comes next. Read the details in Active task limit.
Dashboard mode
| Mode | Best for |
|---|---|
| Subscription | Retainer or subscription clients who send a steady stream of requests. Their portal centers on the task queue. |
| Projects | Clients who buy defined projects. Their portal frames the work by project. |
You can change the mode at any time with Edit on the client. Owners and admins can also give a client a subscription plan with a price and billing interval. See Retainers and subscriptions.
Invite the client’s people
- In Settings → Clients, find the client and open its row.
- Choose Invite client. The client organization is filled in and locked.
- Choose email or link, set the expiry, and send it. See Invite your team for the details.
Client users are free, so invite everyone at the client who needs to request, review or approve work. Each open client row lists its People, with pending invitations marked Invited · pending.
The client list
Each client in Settings → Clients is a row you can fold open. A pill next to the heading counts your client organizations.
- Use Search clients and people to find a client by its name, or by the name or email of anyone in it, including pending invites.
- Expand all and Collapse all open or close every row.
- Edit changes the name, active task limit, dashboard mode, dedicated expert and logo.
- Subscription (owners and admins) sets up a retainer plan for the client.
- Billing (owners and admins) opens Client billing details: legal name, tax ID, billing email, CC emails, address, currency, default payment terms and notes used on their invoices. See Invoices.
- Invite client invites a new client user.
Internal work
Your studio’s own work, like reels, pitches and experiments, doesn’t need a client. Projects and tasks marked Internal live on your internal board. They are never shown to a client and never invoiced. You choose Internal when you create the project or task. See Your first project.
