The setup wizard.
Four short, skippable steps after you create a workspace: workspace basics, invite your team, add a client, and a first project.
Right after you create a workspace, UpRush opens a guided setup. It has four steps and a finish screen. Each step does something real (uploads your logo, sends invitations, creates a client), and every step has Skip for now if you’d rather do it later. Only owners and admins see the wizard.
A strip across the top shows the four steps: Workspace basics, Invite your team, Add a client and First project. You can jump back to a step from the strip.
Step 1: Make it yours
This step sets the defaults the rest of the workspace uses.
- Upload a Logo. It shows up on the dock, on invoices and in the client portal.
- Pick a Default currency. It is pre-selected on quotes, invoices and assignments. See Currencies.
- Check the Timezone. Deadlines are read in this zone.
- Choose Save and continue.
Step 2: Invite your team
Invite the people who run and make the work. Each row takes one email address and one role: Team Manager, Dedicated Expert, Production Team, Finance or Sales (or whatever you have renamed them to).
- Type an email address and pick a role for it.
- Choose Add another for more rows.
- Choose Send invitations. Each person gets a branded email with an Accept button. A tick appears next to each row that went out.
- Prefer to share a link in your team chat? Choose Copy an invite link instead. Anyone with that link joins with the role in the first row, and the link expires in 30 days.
- When you are done, choose Continue.
Step 3: Add your first client
A client organization is the unit everything hangs off: one board, one portal, one queue of active tasks.
- Type the Client name.
- Set the Active task limit: how many tasks this client can have in production at once. It starts at 1. See Active task limit.
- Pick a Dashboard mode: Subscription for retainer-style clients, or Projects for project-based work. This sets how their portal frames the work.
- Choose Create client. The next screen confirms Their board is ready.
- Choose Next: a first project, or Add another client to keep going.
Step 4: First project (optional)
A project groups tasks, files, a scope of work and its money. You can also work task-first and skip this.
- Choose who the project is for. If you have no clients yet, pick Add your first client (and type a name) or Start an internal project. If you have clients, switch between Client and Internal and pick the client from the list.
- Type the Project name.
- Optionally set a Due date (optional).
- Choose Create project.
Internal projects live on your internal board. They are never shown to a client and never invoiced. Read more in Your first project.
Finish
The last screen lists the four steps with Done, Skipped or Not yet next to each. From here you can:
- Go to your dashboard to start working.
- Review settings to look over everything in Settings.
- Take the tour for a short guided lap around the parts of UpRush you use.
Leaving and coming back
You can leave at any point with Do this later, set up your own way in the top corner. Until you finish or dismiss it, your dashboard shows a Finish setting up card with how many steps are done. Choose Resume setup to pick up where you left off, or close the card to dismiss it for good.
