Pin numbered notes to a spot on an image or a page of a PDF, check pixels at 100%, and page through documents without downloading them.

For everyoneUpdated 2026-10-07

Stills and documents get the same treatment as cuts: open them in the review viewer, drop numbered pins exactly where you mean, and draw on them if words aren’t enough. A PDF is reviewed page by page in the viewer itself, so a deck, a script or a print proof never has to leave UpRush to get feedback.

Images

Images open fitted to the stage. A two-way toggle in the top-right corner switches between Fit and 100%, so you can check type, edges and compression at actual pixel size.

Pinning a note

  1. Pick Pin a comment from the tool pill on the stage.
  2. Click the spot you want to talk about. A dot in your color appears there, and the composer shows the pin’s position.
  3. Write the note and post it. The dot becomes a numbered pin, and the same number appears beside the note on the rail.

Pin numbers count only pinned notes on the version you’re looking at, in order, so pin 3 is always the third pin on the image.

PDFs

PDFs open as a scrolling stack of pages with a strip of page thumbnails beside them (along the bottom on a phone). The thumbnail strip follows you as you read; click any page to go there.

ControlWhat it does
Previous page / Next pageMoves one page at a time. The pill shows which page you’re on.
Zoom out / Zoom inChanges the zoom in steps.
WidthFits the width of the page to the stage.
PageFits the whole page on screen.

You can also zoom with ⌘ or Ctrl plus the scroll wheel (or a trackpad pinch), and with a two-finger pinch on touch screens.

Pinning a note to a page

  1. Pick Pin a comment from the tool pill.
  2. Click the spot on the page. The composer chip reads, for example, "Pin on p. 3".
  3. Write the note and post it.

Pins are numbered across the whole document in reading order, so pin 7 is the seventh pinned note wherever it falls. Each note on the rail carries its page (for example p. 3); click it ("Jump to this page") to scroll there. Pins stay attached to the same spot at every zoom level and on every screen size.

Comparing versions

Two versions of an image compare under a wipe: both sit in exactly the same place, so anything that moved is obvious. Two versions of a PDF compare side by side, scrolled in step page by page, which is how you’d read a redline. See Versions and compare.
