The client portal.

Every client gets a branded portal with their own board, projects, calendar, money and messages. It shows only their organization's work, and never anything internal.

For everyoneUpdated 2026-10-07

When you invite a client into UpRush, they do not land in your studio's workspace. They land in their portal: a calm, focused view of their own organization's work, built around one question, "does anything need me?". Your team keeps working in the full app; the client sees the client-facing side of the same tasks, live.

Getting clients in

Add the client organization first (see Add a client), then invite its people with the Client role and that organization selected (see Invite your team). Each client user belongs to one client organization and only ever sees that organization's board, tasks and files. The Client role cannot be combined with internal roles.

What clients see in the dock

ItemWhat it shows
DashboardThe portal home: what is waiting on them, what is active, what is queued, what is done.
ProjectsTheir projects, with progress. They can submit a new one here.
BoardTheir board: every task from request to delivery.
Calendar and TimelineClient-facing dates. See Calendar and timeline.
MoneyInvoices, change orders, proposals and contracts. See The portal's Money page.
MessagesDirect conversations with your team. See Messages.

The dashboard

The top of the dashboard is a dark cover with the client's name and a one-line state: how many items are ready for their review, or All caught up. Open the work takes them straight there. Below it, four blocks give the numbers:

BlockMeaning
Waiting on youTasks ready for their review. Highlighted only when something is waiting.
ActiveTasks in production. In Subscription mode it shows the active task limit, with Slot available or All slots in use.
In queueRequests waiting for the team.
Completed this period or CompletedSince the last renewal in Subscription mode, or this month in Projects mode.

Under the cover:

  • Waiting on you comes first, with the most urgent item as a card (Open the task) and the rest listed below it. This is also where clients find New request and New project.
  • Everything else: Your projects, Upcoming deadlines and Recently completed (in Projects mode), a card introducing their dedicated expert with a button to message them, and Recent activity.
  • Billing: Your plan for subscription clients and a Balance due card when they owe something.

The layout follows each client's Dashboard mode (Subscription or Projects), which you set when you add or edit the client in Settings → Clients.

Their board and task pages

Your board shows the same columns your team sees on that client's board. Clients can drag within the rules: pull work from Queue into Active (within their limit), return it to Queue, and reorder their queue. Each card opens the client's version of the task page, with Deliverables, Overview, Messages, Files and Activity tabs.

  • They see the client status, priority (when High or Urgent), the client deadline and the revision round.
  • On each deliverable they see a four-stop line (In progress, With you, Approved, Delivered) and the files you shared with them.
  • When something is ready, they get Approve and Request changes. See Approvals.
  • The Messages tab shows only the client conversation.

What clients never see

This separation is enforced by UpRush itself, not just by hiding buttons. To check exactly what a client sees, owners and admins can preview the portal with View as.
