Contracts and e-signing.
Draft contracts from templates with fill-in variables, sign first as the studio, and let the client sign online without an account. Both sides get the executed PDF with a certificate of completion.
UpRush has a built-in contract editor and an e-signing flow. You write (or start from a template), sign as the studio, and send a link. The client reviews the full text, adopts a signature and signs. Nobody needs a separate signing service, and the client never needs an account.
Contracts live in Billing → Contracts. You can also create one for a lead from the CRM before the client exists.
Before your first contract: your signature
The studio always signs first, so save your signature once and reuse it. Go to Settings → Your profile → Your signature and choose one way:
- Draw it with your mouse, trackpad or finger.
- Type your name and pick a style: Casual, Flowing or Formal.
- Upload an image of your signature (PNG, JPG or WebP, under 5 MB).
If you skip this, UpRush asks you to adopt a signature the first time you send a contract.
Templates
The Templates section of Billing → Contracts holds your reusable contracts. Click Add starter templates to load a library of starting points written for creative studios, grouped into Core agreements, Production, People and partners, and Protection and paperwork. They include a master services agreement, a statement of work, a monthly retainer agreement, a kill-fee agreement, production, photography and licensing agreements, talent releases, contractor and subcontractor agreements, an NDA, an IP assignment and a change-order amendment.
Click New template to write your own; they appear under Your templates.
Create a contract
- In Billing → Contracts, click New contract. (From a lead, use Create contract in the lead sheet.)
- Pick a template, or Start blank.
- Choose the client (or the lead), and optionally a project so project details can fill in.
- Click Create and write it. The contract opens in the full-page editor.
Placeholders and variables
Templates can carry placeholders that UpRush fills for you: {{client_name}}, {{workspace_name}}, {{project_name}}, {{project_value}} and {{today}}.
Anything else that needs a value (fee amounts, dates, deliverable counts) shows up in the editor’s side rail under Variables, with a count of what is still to fill. Type into Type the value and click Fill to drop it into every matching blank at once. Blanks are written as underscores (____) or labelled brackets like [Kill fee: ____], and choices like [monthly / quarterly]. Use Add variable to create your own. The rail also has an Outline for jumping between sections and Details for the contract’s client and project.
Sign and send
- In the editor, click Send.
- If you have no saved signature, adopt one now and click Adopt and continue.
- Check Signing as, the recipient in To, and any Extra recipients.
- Click Sign and send. Your signature goes on first, and the client gets an email with the signing link.
To deliver the link yourself, tick Don’t send the email (the button becomes Sign and mark as sent), then use Copy sign link.
How the client signs
The link opens a no-login signing page that stays live for 30 days. Clients who use the portal can also sign there. Signing takes three steps:
- Review: the client reads the whole contract and clicks Continue once they have reached the end.
- Adopt your signature: they draw, type or upload a signature.
- Sign: they confirm their Full name and Email, agree to sign electronically, and click Sign.
Right after signing, the client can Download your signed copy. Both parties also receive the executed copy by email. The signed PDF ends with a Certificate of completion: the document fingerprint, who signed and when, where copies were delivered, and the signing trail.
Statuses and actions
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Copy sign link | Copies the client’s signing link (sent contracts). |
| Mark as signed | Records that the client signed. The wording is frozen from then on. |
| Download PDF | Downloads the current contract as a PDF. |
| Pull back to draft | Takes a sent contract back so you can edit it. The old link stops working. |
| Void contract | Cancels a contract. To change a signed contract, void it and draft a new one. |
| Delete contract | Removes it entirely. Only drafts and void contracts can be deleted. |
