Notifications.

What lands in your notification bell, how unread dots work, and how to choose which updates reach you by email or with a sound.

For everyoneUpdated 2026-10-07

UpRush tells you when something needs you: a mention, a new assignment, a status change, a client decision. Everything lands in the bell first, and you decide which types also reach your inbox. Email is quiet by default, so nobody gets buried on day one.

Video walkthrough coming soonWalkthrough: notifications

The bell

The bell sits in the dock and shows a count when you have unread notifications. Click it to open the panel:

  • Unread notifications are highlighted. Click one to go straight to the task, file or page it’s about; it’s marked read.
  • Several updates on the same task are grouped into one row (for example "4 updates · ACM-VID-0142"). Click it to expand.
  • Mark all read clears the lot.
  • When there’s nothing new, the panel says "All caught up".

You don’t have to go through the bell. Opening the page a notification points to marks it read automatically.

Unread dots

A pink dot on an item in the dock means there’s unread activity in that part of UpRush (a new message, an update on the board, an invoice event). The dot clears when you visit that section.

Choosing what you get

  1. Go to Settings and open Notifications.
  2. For each type, switch In-app (the bell) and Email on or off.
  3. Optionally turn on Unread summary.
  4. Click Save preferences.
TypeWhen it firesEmail by default

Every type is on in the bell by default. Approvals are the one email that’s on from the start, because a client decision is the update you least want to miss. Switch it off if you prefer.

The unread summary

Unread summary is a once-a-day email recapping updates you haven’t read yet. It’s off by default and a good fit if you’d rather not get individual emails but don’t want anything to slip.

Sounds

Internal members can hear quiet, short sounds when activity arrives. Switch them with Notification sounds in the Sounds card on the same settings page. Tap the preview pills (Message, Notification, Success, Email sent, Attention) to hear each one. Clients never hear sounds.

Emails from UpRush

Notification emails are branded with UpRush and link straight to the thing they’re about. Some emails aren’t notifications and don’t depend on these settings: invitations, client review requests, invoices and contract signing links are sent because someone chose to send them.
